Sustainability

We consider it our personal & professional responsibility to make as sustainable choices as we possibly can.

REDUCING WASTE

  • We prioritize sustainability in our event production by minimizing waste and maximizing reuse. Instead of using disposable building materials, banners, and design elements, we focus on adopting a circular-first approach to event production.

  • To avoid unnecessary waste, we refrain from distributing different types of merchandise, books, and magazines.
  • We are committed to reducing waste by implementing effective waste sorting practices. This not only minimizes the negative impact on the environment but also enables materials to be recycled and reused. By emphasizing waste sorting, we aim to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable behavior. When visitors see the importance placed on waste sorting at the Tallinn Creative HUB/Kultuurikatel, it can inspire them to make more sustainable choices in their own homes and everyday lives.

WE SORT GARBAGE AS FOLLOWS

We have the appropriate bins for sorting indoors and all the bins are marked with the appropriate colours and instructions. There is a garbage house outside with large containers for sorting by type, from where our service provider takes away the sorted garbage. Paper and cardboard are pressed with a cardboard press. The press is in the warehouse and when the press is full, the paper balls are taken away by our service provider.

  • mixed household waste

REDUCING ENERGY CONSUMPTION

  • We actively monitor the energy consumption in our venue and prioritise the use of energy-efficient lighting systems. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of utilizing alternative energy sources to further reduce our carbon footprint. By implementing energy-efficient solutions, we contribute to a significant reduction in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Tallinn offers excellent opportunities for exploring the city on foot, particularly in the city centre. We also encourage conference attendees to use public transportation, which is provided free of charge. As an incentive for sustainable transportation choices, each evening, presenters inquire about attendees' travel footprint and reward those who have walked the most with a memorable prize.
  • Conserving water is vital as it is a precious resource. We strongly encourage everyone to bring a reusable drink bottle to the conference, allowing them to stay hydrated while minimizing the use of disposable cups and bottles. By promoting responsible water usage, we contribute to the conservation and wise management of this valuable resource.

FOOD & DRINKS

  • Providing Access to High-Quality Drinking Water: We prioritize the well-being of our attendees by offering high-quality drinking water free of charge. Rest assured that tap water in Estonia is safe to drink. We kindly encourage everyone to bring their own water bottles to the conference and utilize reusable cups for hot beverages. By doing so, we collectively reduce plastic waste and contribute to a more sustainable event.

  • Vegan Food and Plant-Based Alternatives: We understand the importance of catering to diverse dietary preferences and values. At our food court, you will find a variety of options for vegan food, as well as plant-based coffee milks. We strive to ensure that everyone can enjoy delicious and nutritious meals during the conference.
  • Organic and Fair Trade Beverages: To further our commitment to sustainability, all the coffee, tea, and sugar offered at the Amber Prize event are sourced from organic and/or fair trade suppliers. By prioritizing these ethical choices, we support environmentally friendly practices and fair working conditions for producers. These initiatives reflect our dedication to creating an environmentally conscious and socially responsible conference experience for all attendees.
